Treatments

The body-mind connection refers to the intricate relationship between our physical well-being and our mental and emotional states. It recognizes that our bodies and minds are interconnected and influence each other in numerous ways. Bodywork, such as massage therapy, can have a positive impact on mental health through various mechanisms.

Reimbursement and Complaint Procedure

Alternative or integrative health care can be a valuable complement to conventional medicine. However, this form of care is not covered by basic health insurance. Most insurance providers offer additional packages (aanvullende verzekering). Depending on your package, the sessions might be (partially) covered by your health insurance. Please check with your provider in advance to avoid any miunderstanding. Kindly note that relaxation massage does not fall under this policy and will not be covered by your health insurance provider.

If you have any questions or if you're getting unhappy with the therapy or the progress, please let me know as soon as possible so we can address your concerns immediately. You can bring up your concerns in person, via email or via the phone. If you feel unable to discuss the matter with me directly, if the situation does not permit it, or if we cannot resolve the concern together, you can contact an independent complaints officer at no cost. This person can assist you, among other things, in formulating your complaint or dissatisfaction and may also act as a mediator. Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a body-focussed form of therapy. It can be extremely beneficial for everyone who struggles with physical or emotional discomfort. The symptoms can vary from fatigue, stress or anxiety to the desire for more (breathing) space, calm or connection. I invite you to explore the relationship you have with your body. During the intake, we will develop a personal treatment plan together. Depending on your specific needs and wishes, I will make use of different tools and methods. In most cases this will be a combination of different forms of massage, movement techniques, focusing, guided meditation, etc.

Therapy for Body & Mind

A psychologist and a body therapist have formed a collaborative practice to provide comprehensive mental health healing and overall well-being enhancement. The impact of trauma and mental health challenges extends across all aspects of our lives, making a holistic approach crucial for effective recovery. Holistic healing acknowledges that addressing the biological, psychological, physical, spiritual, and social needs of individuals is essential, recognizing that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Clinical psychologist Sarah Craig and body therapist Marlene Höning offer integrated holistic care, with a unique advantage. By working together, both therapists can support and assist you in your healing journey. There is a shared healing space, eliminating the need for you to update each therapist individually about your insights and progress—they will communicate and coordinate on your behalf. This approach provides a sense of security and allows you to fully embrace the healing process. While their approaches overlap, drawing from the Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, and Compassion Focused therapies, each therapist brings a unique perspective that enriches the overall treatment experience.

So, what can you expect from this integrated practice?

The process begins with an assessment session, during which shared treatment goals will be developed. Following the assessment, you will be offered a starter package, which can later be supplemented with additional sessions from either therapist based on your preferences. Sarah and Marlene will regularly meet, with your consent, to discuss your treatment progress and incorporate any new insights into future sessions.

There are several different way of working with us though from experience we see that alternating sessions are most beneficial for your healing process. Feel free to contact us for different options as everybody’s needs are different and we want what works best for you.

Mama Massage

Pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum are incredibly unique and significant moments in a woman's life. The act of giving birth holds immense power and has the potential to profoundly transform women's lives.

During pregnancy, incorporating massage into your routine can be a wonderful idea for several reasons. First and foremost, prenatal massage offers a soothing and nurturing experience, promoting relaxation and reducing stress. It can help alleviate common discomforts associated with pregnancy, such as back pain, swelling, and muscle tension.

In addition to physical benefits, prenatal massage creates a calm and supportive environment, allowing women to connect with their changing bodies and the growing life within. It provides a dedicated time for self-care and nurtures a sense of self-awareness and mindfulness throughout the pregnancy journey.

Prenatal massage enhances the overall well-being of expectant mothers by improving circulation and reducing anxiety. It can also contribute to better sleep patterns, which are often disrupted during pregnancy.

Postpartum massage aids in the body's recovery process by promoting relaxation and relieving muscle tension and soreness. It can target specific areas like the lower back, hips, and shoulders, which often bear the brunt of the physical demands during pregnancy and labor.
